This weekend saw the UK's largest Air Festival take place in Bournemouth. Since its inception in 2008 over 8.5 million people have witnessed this spectacular event. The Bournemouth Air Festival brings air craft of all shapes and sizes to the skies of this beautiful Dorset town. The show is the highlight of the summer season in Bournemouth and this year the attendance on the Saturday was estimated at over 500,000 people who gathered to watch the spectacular display of the world renowned Red Arrows, the world's greatest aerobatic display team.
There is always a large gathering of photographers at the festival, all seemingly armed with the same lenses as each other and for the large part, their pictures are almost identical. I wanted to show the perspective of those watching from the golden sands so we ventured down to mingle with the sun tanning hordes and shoot the action from the shoreline. I've shot the Red Arrows on many occasions, it's always an incredible experience; mind boggling on so many levels and once witnessed it definitely leaves an indelible mark on you.
Check out our Limited Edition print, Four Planes which was shot at the first Air Festival in 2008. It features in our Sun, Sea & Sky Collection.
